
About Ramtek
Ramtek is Vidarbha’s favorite tourist place and pilgrimage centre of Central India. Ramtek hosts the historic temple of Rama. It is believed that Ramtek was the place where Rama, the Hindu god, rested while he was in exile. History of ancient India refers Nagarjuna the father of Indian Chemistry was born in Vidarbha. Nagarjuna hill is discovered at Mansar near Ramtek. The excavation revealed several sculptures of Bodhisattva along with others suggesting the Mansar School of Arts. Morters; pestles suggest its medicinal value. The Stupa discovered at Mansar is one of those constructed by Emperor Ashoka. Ramtek is also related to the Sanskrit poet Kalidasa. It is believed that Kalidasa wrote Meghdoot in the hills of Ramtek.
Ramtek is also known for its ancient Jain temple with various ancient statues of Jain Tirthankara. Ramtek is also known for Nagardhan Fort. It was known to be the first capital of the Vakatakas. Ramtek is surrounded by many industries such as NTPC, Ultratech Cement, Surya Laxmi Cotton Industries, Visakha Industries, Reliance IT Park and many Rice Mills and Rice Oil Mills due to availability of ample electricity and water of Pench Project. Also Ramtek is surrounded by underground minerals. So in future many industries will come. Ramtek is connected by railways and proposed broad gauge metro rail to Nagpur. Ramtek is also connected by the Industrial corridor Ramtek-Mauda-Kuhi-Umred-Butibori. As well as Ramtek is Connected by highway with Parshivni-Saoner-Bhopal via Betul.
